Both Saalbach and Hinterglemm are nestled at the bottom of the idyllic Glemm valley. Only about 4 Km apart both offer a fantastic base for exploring the Saalbach/Hinterglemm ski area, or ski circus, as it is known locally. Saalbach is well known for having some of the most riotous après ski in Europe and Hinterglemm, while a little bit quieter, is not far behind.
The skiing is perfect for the intermediate skier with long, wide and challenging red runs dominating the huge 200km ski area. The whole area can be skied by the confident intermediate and is all linked for easy exploration. There is also much here for both the beginner and the expert skier, with excellent ski instruction and guiding. Beginners will find the sunny south facing nursery slopes ideal for learning. For experts, a guide (which many tour operators supply) is recommended for taking on the variety of off-piste available.
Apres Ski
The village of Saalbach is legendary for it’s off the slopes activities. The village has by one of the most active après ski scenes in Europe. Hinterglemm is slightly less expensive than it’s sibling lower down the valley but still has a busy nightlife.
