A key resort in the Ski Welt, Austria`s largest inter-connected ski area, Scheffau is located between Ellmau and Soll. It is smaller than its two neighbours but is otherwise similar, with traditional Tyrolean chalet-style buildings clustered around the white washed church of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist with its sharp spire. For some Scheffau is regarded as the most picturesque in the entire Ski Welt area, located as it is between the spectacular wilder Kaiser (Wild Emperor) mountains and the Hintersteinersee lake.
